Say Goodbye To Ugly Stretch Marks
Stretch marks are always a problem for women as they are really ugly to look and it is almost always unavoidable. These form because of the extreme stretching of the skin, especially during adolescence or pregnancy. When the body grows very fast, the skin will also elongate to accommodate the increased size of the body. The skin is naturally elastic and can stretch up to a certain point. But if the body increases in size at a very rapid rate, the skin will not be able to keep up and will eventually break causing the stretch marks to form.
Collagen and elastin in the skin is responsible for giving the skin its elasticity. The body can produce collagen and elastin at a specific rate. If the body grows too fast without producing enough of these, the skin will not be elastic enough to accommodate the increase in mass. Because of this, the dermal layer will tear and result in stretch marks.
A cheap way of getting rid of stretch marks is through the use of creams or lotions. Many creams have been tested in labs and were found out to be effective. Ingredients of different creams may vary from natural types such as cocoa butter or aloe vera, or they may be artificial such as tropoelastin, matrixyl or retinol. Choosing the right kind of cream that is suitable for your skin is important as different people will have different needs. One cream may work for others but it may not work for you. The upside to using creams is that it is relatively cheaper so you can spend some money until you find the perfect cream that works.
If you want a more effective technique, dermabrasion might be the choice for you. It is more expensive but you are sure to find some results as soon as the procedure is over. This works by removing the outermost layer of your skin by mechanically scraping it off. Because of this, scars that are on this layer will definitely be removed. Only the scars that run deep will be left behind. The only drawback to this is that your skin will be left sensitive for quite some time due to the decreased thickness.
Laser surgery on the other hand, is known to be very effective but very expensive as well. It uses concentrated light to pierce the dermis of the skin and burns the scars that are left behind. Once the scars are removed, new cells will then start to form to replace the lost tissue.
Remember that prevention is always better than a cure. In this case, prevention can be done by applying creams and eating the right kinds of food when expecting a baby. But there is only so much that you can do. If stretch marks still form, then you will have a variety of choices to help eliminate those pesky scars.
